Jules Gabriel Verne was a French novelist, poet, and playwright. His collaboration with publisher Pierre-Jules Hetzel led to the creation of the Voyages Extraordinaires, a series of adventure novels that took readers from the centre of the Earth to the Moon and beyond. Verne is the second most translated author in the world.
